An Unsettling Dream
It's been a few weeks since my last post. I've left Virginia Beach and have been re-absorbed by Paris. I'm prowling the internet for a job, committing myself to learning my French conjugations, and walking Lucie around the park. In the meantime, my brain is a dangerous place.

Kissing Freaks Go To Russia
So I've gotten a break- After scores of rejected applications across the nation, I've finally found my advocates- the folks of Perm, Russia!
Bus stops in the outskirts of Russian cities are not always the most aesthetically exciting places. So the city had a call to artists across the globe, for images. Whatever gets chosen is stretched to large scale- the size of a tall panel in a bus stop shelter- and rendered transluscent. I sent six images, enough for an entire shelter, and I got an email from Arseny Sergeyev that I've been accepted!
There weren't any guidelines on content beyond this: "Images should not annoy or depress those waiting in the stoppage complexes."
I figured that most people likes kissing, even bored Russians. Here's five images- I'm not including the sixth one because I don't really like it. Props to the incredible Christa Donner for spreading the word on this contest!

Dog Bath
My dog, Noodle, has some kind of skin condition. My dad and I need to bathe her pretty regularly with a prescription shampoo. She hates it.

The UFO Club of Virginia Beach
A few weeks ago, my friend Paige had seen a flyer for the monthly meeting of the UFO Club of Virginia Beach- you could tell it was popular because all of the phone number tabs had been ripped off. We came to the back meeting room of the Kempsville Public Library and listened to this man's stream-of-consciousness sermon- it covered everything from contact with a shrouded mechanized being touching his belly (possibly causing cancer decades later) to contact with Will Smith (causing only happiness). Here's some highlights.

Thanksgiving Vignette
A good exercise for me. Usually my people are distorted, radiating, or just weird looking. This was meant as a foray into subtlety. That's a tough game- I think particularly that frame where my mom is picking up the statuette and the phone is buzzing and the voice is speaking- it's just too much information and it kind of short-circuits the brain. Timing- that is a wrestling move I'm learning.
